ALLEGED DRUG TRAFFICKER ARRESTED AND DRUG LAB SEARCHED
Guatemala, September 12, 2012. The National Civil Police (PNC), in a joint operation with the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) and CICIG, arrested Mexican citizen Ramón Antonio Yánez Ochoa at his residence in Zone 14 of Guatemala City. Yánez Ochoa is an alleged drug trafficker who has seemingly been involved in moving drugs between Mexico and Guatemala since 2009.
Juni Fernando Enríquez Monzón, head of security of Puerto Quetzal, was arrested in Escuintla on charges of criminal association and conspiracy to internationally traffic narcotics.
Additional operations conducted today include searches at a drug lab at a warehouse in Santa Isabel (Kilometer 15 of the Chuarrancho highway) and at Kilometer 17 of the Amatitlán highway, the El Salvador highway and Zones 5, 12 and 14 of Guatemala City.
Seizures:
- 5 containers with barrels filled with chemicals.
- 49 barrels with substances.
- 2 containers with 39 barrels.
- 2 barrels possibly filled with methamphetamines.
- Various chemicals.
- Gas cylinders.
- Boilers.
- Vehicles.
- Sacks filled with sodium hydroxide.
- Safe with 158,000 dollars.
- Various documents.
The investigations to locate more members of the criminal structure continue.
