At the forum "Young and Committed", Commissioner Iván Velásquez called upon the youth to join forces in fighting impunity.

CICIG reports:

Guatemala, mayo 30 de 2014. In response to the documentary "Impunity: Guatemala Report" that was uploaded on YouTube, an internal CICIG investigation has established that the video was part of a project directly undertaken during the second half of 2012 by the then Commissioner and Political Advisor.  It is unknown why the documentary was not released at that time or why it was recently uploaded onto the Internet.

The Commission respects the jurisdiction of Switzerland and Spain, where the legal responsibility of certain accused parties is currently being examined. Moreover, the Commission respects the jurisdiction of Guatemala, where an appeal filed by CICIG and the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) is yet to be ruled on; this appeal challenges the acquittal of another accused party. Therefore, CICIG hereby communicates that it did not authorize the publication of the aforementioned video on the Internet and has officially requested that it be removed.
