Attorney General among the most powerful women in the world

Guatemala, August 24, 2012. Claudia Paz y Paz, Attorney General of the Republic and Head of the Public Prosecutor's Office, was recently included in Forbes' list of the most powerful women changing the world in politics and public policy.

The publication stated that since assuming office, the Attorney General has worked hard to bring justice to members of organized crime structures, human rights abusers and perpetrators of gender-based violence.

Forbes also stressed that Paz y Paz has significantly increased the number of prosecutions and convictions in a country confronting serious challenges to the rule of law.
