Commissioner meets with new president of CSJ and OJ

Guatemala, October 18, 2012. Commissioner Francisco Javier Dall'Anese Ruiz met with Gabriel Medrano Valenzuela today, the new President of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and the Judiciary (OJ), with the aim of initiating a rapprochement between the two institutions.

"This is a courtesy visit and a first encounter with the new President of the Supreme Court of Justice, to whom I manifested CICIG's will to cooperate bilaterally in all possible areas, and we shall respect the decisions he makes as the head of the judicial branch," stated the Commissioner.

Gabriel Medrano Valenzuela assumed his one-year presidency of the CSJ and OJ on October 13; he was elected by CSJ judges.
