AS REGARDS THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE TO SELECT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC AND HEAD OF THE PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE:

Guatemala, 28 March 2014. The International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala hereby reports that yesterday, 27 March 2014, it received a request from the Nominating Committee responsible for the selection procedure of the Attorney General of the Republic and Head of the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP). The request sought the collaboration of CICIG in the procedure to select the Attorney General.

In accordance with its mandate and with a view to contributing to the procedure, CICIG accepts the request and shall respond in the coming days.

The Commission calls upon different sectors of society to join together and oversee this procedure that is of great importance to the country.
