The Special Prosecutor’s Office against impunity of the Attorney General’s Office (MinisterioPúblico, MP), with the support of the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (ComisiónInternacional Contra la Impunidaden Guatemala, CICIG), turned in eight real estate properties related to Alejandro Jorge Sinibaldi Aparicio to the National Secretariat for the Administration of Seized and Confiscated Assets (Secretaría Nacional de BienesenExtinción de Dominio, SENABED) for their administration. The Court of First Instance for the Seized and Confiscated Assets decreed a precautionary restraining measure.
These properties include:
- Two properties located in Zona 10 of Guatemala City (the ‘Green House’).
- Onepropertylocated in Santa Catarina Pinula, Guatemala (Casa Bonita).
- Three properties are located in zone 5, Guatemala City (warehouse, parking, and common area).
- One property located in Zona 8, Guatemala City (Patriota party campaign house).
- 1 property in Puerto San José, Escuintla (House of Dreams).
Alejandro Jorge Sinibaldi Aparicio used these properties as an office, warehouse, campaign house for Partido Patriota, recreation and family home.
The investigation carried out together with CICIG established that the real estate was registered by third parties, including corporations and off-shores in the Republic of Panama.
However, although they were registered to third parties, it was Alejandro Sinibaldi who bought them and orchestrated the way to conceal their illicit origin.
The properties will be administered by the National Secretariat for the Administration of Seized and Confiscated Assets under the Eminent Domain Act.
