On October 30, 2018, the staff of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala, CICIG, wentto the Sub-Directorate for Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to file Commissioner Iván Velásquez Gomez’s visa renewal.  The person responsible for receiving these documents, after consulting his superiors, refused to accept the application and did not provide a reason or justification, in written or otherwise, for the denial.

The International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala continues to work under the leadership of Commissioner Iván Velásquez.
