El Secretario General se reunió hoy con el Comisionado Iván Velásquez, Jefe de la Comisión Internacional contra la Impunidad en Guatemala (CICIG). El Secretario General y el Comisionado Velásquez abordaron desarrollos recientes y los avances en la lucha contra la impunidad y la corrupción en Guatemala. El Secretario General reiteró su apoyo al trabajo de la Comisión Internacional contra la Impunidad en Guatemala y expresó su reconocimiento por el liderazgo y profesionalismo del Comisionado Velásquez al frente de CICIG. El Secretario General expresó confianza en que el Comisionado continuará desempeñando un papel fundamental en el fortalecimiento del Estado de Derecho en Guatemala.

The Secretary-General met today with Commissioner Iván Velásquez, Head of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG). The Secretary-General and Commissioner Velásquez discussed recent developments and progress made in the fight against impunity and corruption in Guatemala. The Secretary-General reiterated his support for the work of the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala and thanked Commissioner Velásquez for his leadership and professionalism at the helm of CICIG. The Secretary-General welcomed the Commissioner’s continuing work to strengthen the rule of law in Guatemala.
